Really nice animation and I didg the stylex but it doesn't really feel like Movie Portal material, in my opinion. It could go in the Art Portal as a GIF, and I think it would be better appreciated there. I'm looking forward to whatever you submit next, but I just think something needs to feel like a complete animation, a full experience, to be in this portal. This is cool, but I don't think it's that.

Oh, that was fantastic! I lived the animation style and the sounds. The former just makes it feel so weird and spooky and vintage. The latter just kinda reminds me of Terry Gilliam's Monty Python animations with the goop making those weird slurred words. When you add them up, you get a pretty interesting experience, makes it feel old, like it was some sort of weird indie animated project from decades ago that was lost to time.
I appreciate the spin on the whole Johnny Johnny thing. Honestly, it's not that much weirder than the stuff on YouTube. I like how understated it all is. It's so matter-of-fact and that makes it really uncanny. The character (creature?) designs are super cool. That idea with the talking goop is really unique. The ending was pretty interesting, I like how throughout you showed all the weird logic of their facial features. The sugar being humans was a nice twist, spooky and weird, though I was a bit confused before it was shown cause I didn't know why Beautiful Orifice Boy had humans on his teeth. It all sped up nicely towards the end.
Keep it up, I would love to see more from you, this was very cool.

Your words are very very much appreciated.

There will be more.

Try not submitting these. For one, they're very short and they have no sound. They're tests is basically the problem. They're not complete works and they don't feel like it. Also, I'm not sure why you made it so zoomed out? The animation itself isn't too bad, though I would prefer to be able to see the bullets.

DARRUM responds:

I think you are right

First off, that's some really nice animation. I love the variety of styles you can utilize. I gotta say, I'm more partial to the darker and more serious-looking stuff, I feel like it gwts the spirit of the show across better. I mean, I'm not sure how I feel about there being a reanimated version of the episode, I feel like the style was what attracted people to the show in the first place, no? The cutesy style you had in 3 of the shots just doesn't really fit in my opinion. The first one is still better than the one with the dog, because of its plainer colors. The woodsman close-ups were great, though, you really nailed the gritty and stylized atmosphere. The tracking shot of the lantern's light coming out was pretty dope as well. That still was just neat. I liked the process showing, as the kids call it, I feel like it demonstrated the process and the tools you used pretty well. I don't know much about that stuff. The music feels really aggressive and a bit out of place, especially considering its loudness relative to the volume of the actual shots.
Work on your music integration, I guess, keep it up with the variety and maybe match the atmosphere more in future reanimated projects? That one ain't really your fault, though, seems like it was a not great idea from the get-go. Like, I get the appeal of a reanimated collab for such a cool show, but I just think it should have been done a bit differently then.

Noted! Thank you.

Oh man, this deserves some stars, if just for the shock. Oh my God, I was caught completely unprepared. Just so weird seeing that with your style and after such a cheerful intro with the music and cute bear. Well executed, my dude. Nice animation on the bear, nice and wacky, with the actual bear looking pretty doofy. 'Specially like the walk cycle. The colors are pretty interesting. Now that I rewatch it I guess the sunset kinda looks foreboding of things to come. Feels kinda weird. That's probably fitting, though.
Keep it up, I had no idea you made stuff like this.

Well, happy belated Halloween. This was a pretty fun one. Different approaches for sure, which is always appreciated. I liked all the sletches, honestly, except the one about Redbook shitting on a fucking cryptid. I just didn't really feel that one. I mean it was kinda funny cause it was so random and haha clocks shitting, but eh. The rape ghost one was funny, I did not expect the twist and the way it was executed, the dialogue was pretty funny. Pretty classic concept honestly. The summoning one went dark really quickly and I appreciate that contrast between the friendly convo and the demon summoning. The ending was a bit unclear as to what that was supposed to be. Also a bit loud. I mean, I get the point and that you guys like that stuff, but it can be a bit inconvenient when someone is near you. The Banana Locl murders some people one had a nice style and I appreciae the written dialogue since I often have trouble deciphering clock speech. Loved the random bash on Brazil Clock about how gay his music choice is. The one with Turd Clock just cracked me up. How quickly it spiralled into "depressing pile of expired wlldg(???)" just amuses me. The wolf one was pretty funny to me cause it had actual voice acting and the wholesomeness at the start, then the nonsensical riddles. Idk, just funny. Basically this collab thrives on twists and contrasts, I like it. The in-between parts were funny f rom what I can tell, but man did they need to have louder voice acting.I barely understood a thing.
Overall a Clock Crewy collab with some classic premises, funny jokes, ear-piercing nosies and spam, that had some audio problems. Strawberry Clock is King of the Portal.

k9 responds:

Thanks for the review! I'll touch up the audio on my parts (the paper ones), and YOU'RE DAMN RIGHT SBC IS THE KING OF THE PORTAL.

brazilclock responds:

his music taste is gay because he’s gay

OctopusClock responds:

did u solve the riddles?

That was a pretty accurate portrayal of these shows. All the over-dramatic family feuding, the doctor at the end, the host, of course. I really dig the style, sorta caricature-ish. I like how no joke is drawn attention to, it's just there, like Manny's bus driver dad's... possible mental breakdown or the crime in Buenos Aires. Nice twist at the end and I really liked the voice acting. All sufficiently over-the-top for the subject but all different, even though heavily accented. Especially Manny's mom, she's funny with the way she drags out her sentences. So dramatic. It's a bit weird you didn't put a name thing in the corner for, I assume, Manny's brother.
Keep it up, this was a clever parody, I can kinda tell what kind of place in your mind it comes from with the crime references and stuff. Good luck in your Spanish-speaking endeavours!

OblitusCS responds:

Sorry for the late response man, haven´t been checking out newgrounds in a while. I just needed to thank you for the comment, even if it is this late. I'm currently working on a new series which is taking a long time because I´m animating the entire season. hopefully I´ll be able to share it soon. thanks again man, stay safe!!!

Well, I don't play Metroid, but this was a bit confusing to me. The animation and art are fantastic, the artstyle especially reminds me of Samurai Jack at times. The fight an cuts do too. However, I feel like the way every shot ended with a fade out was a bit weird, made the whole thing feel disjointed. Like one moment Samus is walking, the next she's gettin assaulted by a Metroid? The uhhhh... spaghetti-O's thrown at hwr could have been shown with her dodging them from the start instead of a couple of shots of just them, cause I didn't realize what they were at first. The ending is also really abrupt. So I'm not sure what exactly transpired here and in what order. I did like the contrasted shots of her getting attacked and her making friends with the Metroid. The sound was also pretty great, very fitting.
So do keep it up, this looked beautiful and had some great potential, just maybe work on editing and story flow, making stuff clearer. Take this with a grain of salt, though, as it could be that someone who has played Metroid understands this perfectly.

Zoukeau responds:

Metroid fans are definitely the target audience for this. My hope is that they'll understand, or rather, recognize all the events from Super Metroid within my animation. However I'm very interested in how people outside that fandom perceive what I have created here. Best case scenario: they become curious about the game or the Metroid series as a whole.

If that doesn't happen, I'd still be glad if people appreciate the ambience/tone of my animation, which you seem to do.

Also the bit where Samus "makes friends" with the Metroid is supposed to be a flashback of the big Metroid. He grows a lot bigger, and I think that's what maybe makes it confusing. Perhaps I should have put that flashback in grayscale after all.

I like the animation, you did well. Maybe I'm just biased towards that style, but still. Some things need a bit of practice, like for instance when he crouched he looked like he was sitting on air. Just something off about the perspective or maybe his legs? Probably the way his body seems a 90° angle to them like if he was sitting. The twist was funny and just kinda cute. I didn't expect the dancing, and that was pretty funny too. Just that level of randomness brought in by the music out of nowhere.
Keep it up!

NightThief81 responds:

thanks !
sure , I'll do my best :)

Simple and short but nice and charming. The music has that wholesome spooky appeal and I like the art. The ending was just fun. Keep it up but maybe make longer/more complete feeling stuff if you're submitting to the Movie Portal next time. Happy Halloween!

VillainousVic responds:

Thank you for the feedback. I appreciate it. Next time I do plan for something longer and more complex. Maybe for christmas. This was just to get my toes in the water. I now know what I am doing...mostly.
