Never seen Mischief frowning before. As always, the style was great, music was great, etc. We've gone over that already. The best parts of the episode visually would be the rose and just all of the lighting in the flashback. I love those colors. Blue guy's cigarette flying out of his mouth was cool too. I wonder if it was a callback to episode 1 when Mischief took his cigarette. Both times he was facing something new and important. Maybe I'm digging too far into it. I like that we got to see some backstory for Blue Guy. I suppose Muschief wasn't expecting this to happen, since it's the only time he's ever frowned. The shot of Blue Guy lying on the ground was great. Mischief could probably tell that Blue Guy left something behind, I guess that's why this whole fever dream started in the first place. I don't know what to think about him being immortal. Guess I'll just have to wait and see. I saw that you're up to episode 8 on YouTube. The "Mom died" thing is a bit cliched, but I can forgive it. So I guess Blue Guy just couldn't move past his trauma and his life lost all meaning. That's why his idea of a good time is looking at mannequins now. He's basically the polar opposite of Mischief, who embraced change and moved on. Mischief forced him to confront the past, and that broke him down. It's interesting how the creepy clown-snake turned out to be the more positive character. I don't really have anything else to say about this one. Good job, you've got me hooked.

I like the style, though the repeated "Free Philosophy" gets stale quick, especially if one just saw your previous animation-"Book". I like the character of the philosopher and the other guy is pretty cool too. The joke was great, especially with the buildup to it, and the guy stretching himself. However, him holding a wallet confused me, since it doesn't seem like he took it from the blue guy. You could have made that more obvious, because it would have gone with the joke. Also, I like how he just blasted off, and the "What a smart guy!" line. Just, in the future, don't overuse jokes that are just repeating stuff.

That's some good constructive criticism! Thank you! I do agree I could use some work on making my animation more apparent. I did feel like I was recycling Book a little bit in this one. I'm still a novice at joke writing and trying to get better.

Oh my God, what did I just witness. The animation was great though at first it was a bit too over-the-top so it got a little stale. Then it got dark and I could see that it was definitely Cult Disney. The music was really nice, too, especially when it got horrifying, because it got intense and fit the situation. The voice acting was also nice, and the laugh track part at the end is good. I liked the background when he reached for the banana because it had all these weird details. Overall, it's weird in a really interesting way, but you could ease up with the exaggerated movements and expressions in the beginning.

RedMenace-96 responds:

Thank you for your review, I appreciate the critiques and kind words!
I'm happy you noticed the little details in the background when he reached for the banana, in fact, if you look closely you can find a squealer, the creature from my infomercial animation.

This might just be my favorite episode. I love the other ones, but this one was OUTSTANDING in terms of atmosphere. The music was phenomenal, it didn't have an explanatory monologue and just let you be in the world. The lighting was GORGEOUS. Seriously, what an amazing episode! As for the meaning, well, Kami definitely seems to be evil. Taking Ghost away from the child and acting so menacing has to mean something. As for Mischief absorbing the minds of the parents, that's got me a bit confused. I don't know why I keep exploring this from the viewpoint of my original theory when I know it's wrong. So Kami is definitely getting rid of the ghosts, taking away all the static. Imprisoning them, even though the other ones we've a en mostly seem benevolent. Mischief never harmed anyone and Ghost seems to be saving people, so yeah. I guess it's got to have some religious undertone because God is imprisoning the free ghosts for no reason, even though they help people. Maybe they represent smaller religions in this case, since you mirrored the painting with God and Adam.

Always appreciate your insights. :)

So...they made God? That's interesting. I'm not sure how I feel about this shift to big UN meetings with incredibly important robots being unveiled. The speech just seemed a bit cliched for this series. That shot of the eye was magnificent, though. I really like how the CEO guy is so dark and ominous. I'm guessing the phenomenon he referred to was the thing with the ship that created Mischief, since he has static behind his eyes, and disembodied minds are pretty much his description. So, if I'm going with my interpretation, they made God and shone a light into the darkness of the ghosts. They put the freedom in a body of their own creation, which means they've trapped it so it would guide them. Interesting development. If I'm going with your individualism thing, they've also made God to guide them. I suppose that would put Mischief teaching the blue guy about freedom on the opposite end of the spectrum. I'll have to see where this goes.

The art and animation are very simple, but that doesn't always limit comedy. I do like the joke, especially the ending. The voice acting isn't very good, and the pacing needs work. Like, the guy answered the question at the start so fast it was disorienting, and the shot switching felt abrupt as well considering the dialogue pacing. Work on that, and keep making things. It seems like you can do some nice jokes.

MasonTheWeirdo responds:

thanks, i'll work on that!
Thanks For the advice

You should really add more sound effects to this. The animation was very slow and choppy. I'm guessing you animated this in Flash, since you mentioned Swivel. That's good. It would have been better if the animation was really fast because this way it's uneven so some things take longer than others. The main character got compressed at one point. You need to practice a lot, but it's only your second animation, so it's actually not as bad as it could have been. Keep working on your skills, and, in time, you'll improve.

Kelly is great in this one. Probably high off his old mind. I loved the story about going to see the Alien movie. The montage with them watching everything to do with the movie. The Rock's reactions thing was great. I'm really surprised that neither Skylar nor Kelly understand the concept of so-bad-it's-good movies. Then again, Skylar watches pretentious things (mostly, we've seen his Netflix list) and Kelly is just high. Kirsten does seem like the kind of person who'd understand though. During the montage Kelly probably should have been actually taking notes instead of just standing there with a notepad. Keep it up, the quality of these is great lately!

RocketAdrift responds:

Thanks so much! ^^

The voice acting is great, and the artstyle is quite cool. The song at the end is really good, and I like the idea that they're cheesy eighties space superheroes who are really dumb. The character didn't really seem that original though, but there is potential. The big purple guy didn't get anything really interesting to do. I did like Shadow Blade because he just seemed so down-to-Earth (no pun intended), and didn't even get what Captain D (that's his name, right?) said. I do also appreciate that Captain D turned them away when what they found was actually really important. Overall, I'd say if you gave more attention to the purple guy, a longer version of this with the team dynamic could be quite entertaining.
