Wow. I loved the visuals. The waves around the giant speakers, the intro and the ending. The narration is really cool. Inviting us to ponder by chilling, huh? I like the message. It's a combination of things I've heard already, but worded in a new way. Waves. They are quite poetic. Moving through an environment, spreading oscillation to the particles in that environment. But yeah, I suppose it alladepends depends on how we interpret their oscillations. I like this view of the world. It's chill, you're here to feel and experience. Feels like it was a lot more intimidating at the start, because of the beat and the void coming in and the uncertainty of what we're being shown. That's what it's like comin into most existential ideas. Progressively got mellower, more accepting. I just realized the speaker waves cover the void. "Maybe you are the flame that keeps the void warm" is a fantastic line, through and through. I loved seeing your character "warm up". Such a good message carried over so well.
Keep it up!

wow! thank you for this lovely review, i'm ecstatic that you understand the vibe i'm putting down.

I feel like this could be a gif in the art portal, it's very short, the sound doesn't add much. Just doesn't really have the kind of entertainment value a movie submission should have in my opinion. It should feel like a full experience. It'd probably be fne as a gif, though I do thibk the boobs look like balloons on a completely different plane than the rest of the body.

7LoS7 responds:

I appreciate the feed back and while this was a short test in moho I agree with your statement and will keep it in mind in the future. Though, even as a gif, I think frame by frame or a more complex puppet drawn in less haste will look better 'cause I do agree with balloons on different planes thing.

The animation is pretty goodx it's funx but it's not really Movie Portal material in my opinion. Just doesn't have that kind of entertainment value, there's no sound, very short, the animation isn't even really finished. I just think it would be better as a gif in the Art Portal. Do keep it up, though!

Thank you so much for your feedback, I'll keep it in mind (I'm still learning to upload stuff in different formats, and I agree with you about the gif) :3

I don't really get why the guy didn't do anything to help. The cut from them drinking together to her alone was also pretty sudden and vague, honestly. I just don't get what happened there. The music was fun and I like the style, though you could work on some things, like the guy when he's shown... looking at his watch? The perspective is a bit off and it makes his arms look pretty stubby. The story itself is kinda meh, I guess. It just didn't really connect. The first part, like I said, was confusing, and the second part kinda came out of nowhere and the silly music stopped and it seemed super serious for a moment. Really I think the beginning was what messed it up, cause it didn't feel right and there didn't seem to be a point to it, or there was something missed connecting it to the second half.
Keep it up, but work on visual storytelling and pacing a little, try to show things mkre clearly.

NahManacles responds:

Thank you! The original intention was that the guy was late for something, and was going to meet the lady later, but then when he showed up after she fell he assumed she didn't show up because she wasn't interested. Appreciate the comments and advice!

That was actually really funny. I love how there's more of the humans than the kaiju. The bits of dialogues you chose to "keep in" were brilliant too. Perfectly condensed basic knowledge necessary. "We need a ray to sto-" "Atomic ray". I love how the romance in the end is kept in almost completely while the qctual way they defeated the monster isn't in there at all, just the information that it was clever. The low-budget look of the "movie" fit in great too. Brilliant little parody with a fun premise. Keep it up!

StudioSnowlion responds:

Thanks. Glad you liked it. It was made in a hurry over the weekend, which in this case kinda helps.

That was pretty good, considering the limiting circumstances you had. Animation was a little fast, but again, limitations. Sound design was really nice, I loved the noise the moment he dropped into the box. It was disconnected but that was the point, I guess. The ending was pretty funny with the little thump. The concept was pretty interesting. That dog was pretty funny too.
Keep it up, you've got some good stuff going on, though I can't really accurately judge your current skill level from this.

KloudKat responds:

Hey thanks a lot for the very fair assessment. Yeah, the thirty second limit ended up messing me up a little more than I thought and I've had issues with animation speed for a while that just kind of got exacerbated by it.

I'm glad to hear the sound design was okay though, I've been trying to improve in that area too and on your last point, thanks for the encouragement. I've definitely got a bunch of big projects in the works!

Pretty nice animation, but since it has no sound and is so short, I feel like it could just as well be a gif in the Art Portal. Just doesn't have the traits of a "movie" in my opinion. But do keep it up!

Da-Goat-Cartoonist responds:

Thanks. I focused more on just animating it. So I might render it with some sound next time.

That was fantastic. I loved the music and it delivered the point very, very well. Catchy beat with an extremely serious message. The visuals with their transitions were sublime to watch, I suppose it's fitting when it's all connected and has one source. Really great creative visualizations, perfectly punctuating the sound. I don't want to say anything that will cheapen your fight, so just know that I live in an autocratic country, though it's not nearly as bad as yours, and I support your cause.

Totally2d responds:

The more I look around the world the more I realise that Zimbabwe is not the only country thats got it bad, when it comes to leaders who just don't care. Thank you for the lovely comment.

Wow, that was... really interesting. Fantastic animation and I liked the style, though the demons looked a bit flat when they were unsilhouetted, not very impactful or appealing. The visual storytelling was great, though, nothing but sound and motion to get a very specific mood across, and I like that you went with more alarming than simple menacing music, a lot just go for the generic dumms and squeals. The music in this sounded like it had sirens incorporated into it. The slow, certain motions and sound effects of the red demon towards the end coupled with the dynamic close-ups make me think you were inspired by Samurai Jack or Genndy Tartakovsky's work in general. The message actually didn't go the way I thought it was gonna go. I appreciate that. We humans are not all guilty, but nature will pity none if we don't stop what we're doing. Do it for the children, something along those lines. It's not a coincidence a storm cloud is giving orders. Dark but well thought out.
Keep it up, man, this was chilling.

TNTBEEZER responds:

You summed up my intentions pretty damn well! Thank you! The siren is actually a passing train horn. Most of the music and SFX were from freesound.org

I am currently working on Part 2 and have been for the last 4 months after I completed "The Jellyfish of Justice". A vast majority of my progress is documented on my instagram @tntbeeler
An episode of Part 2 is pending judgment on my profile, so it'll be on there soon!
But it is already live on my website @ gusbeeler.com
Thank you for support and HAPPY NEW YEAR!
