I love you. You can do horror and comedy, and put just as much passion into both. I really liked how your style worked here, because it's always been a bit abstract, and can go both ways with its expressive fluidity and geometric linework. I like the way it parodies dumb cliches all throughout while also being kinda spoopy sometimes. Loved the one-stringed guitar song. The one-liner, dude spazzing out when the arm comes out of the guitar and the skateboard trick were great too. However, I have to say, the sorta random moments where the main character screams very suddenly and quickly aren't very well done, the enunciation is not sufficient, making them a tiny bit hard to understand as well and break the flow, as well as being under the general humor level of the piece. Some of the shots are also a bit unclear, like we're missing a close-up of the strings breaking, the dude who said "You really fucked us now" showing up all contrast-coloured lasts half a second and, as such, is pretty confusing, especially considering his attitude a second before.
Overall a flawed, but enjoyable toon with your distinct signature. Keep it up and keep improving!

AntonM responds:

OH man thank you so much for the detailed review man!! Yeah i could be a lot more clear about certain shots, cheers for letting me know about what can be improved and thanks again for the very kind words :))))

Nice animation, the audio... is it actually taken from a real thing or did you do it? It's funny either way. I like the way you animated the character movements, very nice and expressive, and the right amount of over-the-top dumb for this. The lipsyncing, though, needs work. I like the way you did the pauses, but the opening line has his mouth open too wide, not fitting as he's speaking fairly restrainedly and quietly.
Overall, nice animation and some funny weirdness humor. Keep it up!

drainzerhg responds:

Yes, it is a real thing, shot back in the 70s.

If you could, like, maybe make this a gif in the art portal? Things like this I feel like aren't really suited to the Movie Portal. It's just a logo, it doesn't have much to say on its own. It's a pretty nice logo, but it just doesn't really have any entertainment value on its own.
Keep it up though, I'm looking forward to whatever you submit next.

Terrifyingvoid responds:

well I didnt know where to put it so maybe i would try to do that, thanks by the way for the review

I feel like this isn't really Movie Portal material. I understand it's for a collab, but it's not much on its own. It does look neat, thought the background changes are strange, but ultimately kinda cool. If you can find a way to make this into a gif and upload it to the art portal, that'd be awesome! Keep it up!

Sonjaro responds:

Alright, thank you!

Well, there's no sound and nothing really happens. It's kind of a test, I guess. These loops are fine and dandy, and you can put them in your file dump and share them through news posts, but try only putting things that feel finished, substantial in the Movie Portal. Something that makes you feel like you just watched something. I can appreciate the effort in this loop, but it leaves me with nothing. So keep it up, but try not to post these things in the Movie Portal.

Okie dukie stillfigurin this out

Pretty bizarre, I like it. Cool power trip lmao. Started like some philosophical tale about baking. Dig the existential sort of void in the description of the daily routine. We truly live in a society. The animation is pretty cool too, with its scribbliness.
Simple but just enough weird and funny to make it fun.

triplebummer responds:

Thanks so much for looking at the toastbread.

Nice animation and interesting concept. Perhaps not the most original, seeing as how it's some sort of we live in a society everyone is pawns thing, but I like how it all turned out to be utterly pointless and random in the end and the actual punchline was funny too. Really cool scene when he got "pushed" by the statue. The colors I think were a bit too much, or maybe I just dislike being confused at first because the sun when the guy gets up and goes onto the balcony looks too much like the moon. Nice music, too. Kinda repetitive and a bit stress-inducing when listened to for too long, which was probably the point.
Overall this was nice and original, keep it up! I'm sorry for the shitty review, I'm really not feeling up to it right now.

theGreenCat responds:

The colour choices were the initial concept for the animation, even before the story idea, so they are an integral to the piece. That being said, I can definitely needed to give the colours more thought.

Thanks for the detailed review, I really appreciate it. Honestly this is probably one of the more comprehensive critiques I've ever gotten.
